Are the 2022 Miami Dolphins the reincarnation of the 1999 St. Rams?

Are the 2022 Miami Dolphins the reincarnation of the 1999 St. Rams?

Before you start laughing at me, let us dive deeper into both teams and the most important players on both teams.

The 1999 St. Rams were known to the football world as the Greatest Show on Turf. The 2022 Miami Dolphins are fast, very fast. I've heard a couple of nicknames for them, like Top Off, The Greatest Show on Surf, and Legion of Zoom. When I think of this new Mike McDaniel offense, I think of the movie Catch Me If You Can, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. With Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson, Raheem Mostert, and Chase Edmonds, defensive all around the league will have a hard time catching them.

Let's compare

Here are the most important players on both teams.

Let's start with the QBs

Rams = Kurt Warner

He wasn't supposed to be the starting that year. Trent Green penciled in at the beginning of training camp. However, Green had a freak accident in a preseason game and was out for the season. Kurt Warner stepped in as the starter. Warner was known for being a pocket passer, not necessarily fleet of foot, but accurate with the football. Does that sound familiar?

Dolphins = Tua Tagovailoa

Tua is like Warner, a pocket RPO passer, not the most athletic QB; other strengths are accuracy and anticipation.

Let's move to the WRs.

Rams

  •  Isaac Bruce.
  • Az-Zahir Hakim PR.
  • Torry Holt.
  • Tony Horne KR.
  •  Ricky Proehl.

Dolphins

  • Tyreek Hill
  • Jaylen Waddle
  • Cedrick Wilson
  • Lynn Bowden Jr.
  • Preston Williams

I look at both teams' WRs list, and all I can think is "FAST."

I am not saying we will win the Super Bowl like the 1999 St. Louis Rams. But the Miami Dolphins have the making to make a massive impact in the 2022 NFL season.

I hear the defensive coordinators saying to the defensive back catch them if you can.
